About the Castle
Welcome to Dolni Kounice Castle which is one of the oldest and the biggest castles in Central Europe. The Castle is named after the its founder - Vilem of Kounice, who is first mention in 1162. While 99 percent of other Czech castles are owned by the state, Dolni Kounice Castle is privately owned.
The current owners' coat of arms. On the top-left there is heraldic charge of the Castle's founder - Vilém of Kounice, originally Pulín. On the top-right is the logo of the company which sponsored the whole reconstruction of the castle. At bottom is the Zoubek family's heraldic charge.
